Calligraphers specialize in artistic, stylized, or elegant handwriting or lettering. The calligraphy services we insure can include special event invitations, as well as custom handcrafted pieces, suited to the client’s taste.

We provide insurance options for professional potters, sculptors, and other artisans who mold and fire pottery in a kiln to achieve permanent shape and strength. These efforts can produce artistic pieces, home merchandise, and more. The finished products we offer coverage for include delicate fine china, bone china, porcelain, earthenware, stoneware, sanitary ware, and decorative items.

Crafters possess the unique skill and ability to make items by hand and, with insurance from RLI, their merchandise can be transported and sold at trade shows or fairs without worry. Crafters covered under this policy may sell or display merchandise in consignment shops, as long as he or she does not operate or lease space on a regular or continuous basis.
Manufacturing of or sales/distribution of toys, weapons of any nature, and candles are all excluded from this classification.

Businesses we insure under this class cut into materials to either create artwork for sale at trade shows and other venues.
Eligible business professionals may also be interested in the limits available to them for their Business Personal Property Coverage, which insures business equipment, inventory while at home or temporarily away from the premises.

Under this policy, we cover individuals who make items from glass. These can include miniature figurines, candy dishes, stained glass, and a variety of other décor items. Given the high value and delicacy of this type of inventory, glassware professionals will benefit from our financial protection against damaged products and equipment, as well as theft.

At RLI, we work to protect business operations that include the construction and sale of merchandise made from skilled hands. Qualifying products may include embroidery, tatting, knitting, crocheting, and similar types of handicrafts, as well as those produced by blacksmiths. Nonetheless, businesses that make, distribute, and sell toys or homemade candles are not covered under this policy. Additionally, if you solely embroidery, you are better suited for the Embroidery class under Clothing Businesses, and those who work primarily with upholstery should look to the Upholsterer class under Other Services.

We consider costume or “fashion” jewelry to be made out of base metal that may have filling, electroplating, and overlays. Accessories containing fake or semi-precious stones contained in base metal settings also constitute as costume jewelry, and are eligible under our policy. Sterling silver is acceptable. “Fine Jewelry” contains real gold, alloys, or precious stones, and is not eligible under this class.

Professionals who manufacture leather items may work with a broad range of products. Our business listing extends to artisans who fashion briefcases, handbags, purses, wallets, belts, small cases (for keys, cards, coins, glasses, jewelry, and toiletries), as well as other leather accessories and novelties.
The products covered under our policies may be constructed of totally or partially of leather, including additional textiles like wood, metal, plastic reinforcements, and hardware. Your business may receive fully tanned leathers from tanneries, or may opt to handle the final stages of tanning yourself. However, animal and pet accessories are not eligible under this class.

Wooden furniture crafters construct pieces such as chairs and picnic tables for clients. Please note that this policy’s coverage does not extend to infant furniture, such as cribs, cradles, changing tables, playpens, and other pieces commonly found in nurseries. RLI works to insure businesses whose operations include the creation of products made out of wood, including frames, sculptures, desk sets, screen doors, vases, bowls, cups, etc. However, this policy does not protect furniture, including kitchen cabinets, benches, chairs, tables, headboards, and bookshelves, as large pieces fall under Wooden furniture crafters.
