Throughout the U.S. with the following exceptions: Policies cannot be domiciled in or significantly operating in AK, HI, LA, MA, MT, NM, NJ, NV or NY. Hired and Non-Owned Auto only policies cannot be domiciled in ME or TX. RLI is not targeting risks domiciled in or primarily operating in South Florida (south of Lake Okeechobee), South Texas (south of Houston), Los Angeles County, San Francisco Bay Area (San Francisco, Marin and Alameda counties), Cook County, Illinois or metro New Jersey. Significant operations are generally defined as more than 20% to 25% of the overall exposure. Risks with incidental exposure in these territories may be considered if they are not domiciled there.

Public Administration & Municipalities specific criteria

  • Minimum premium of $10,000
  • Limits up to $5 million combined single limit
  • California MCP filings available
  • Symbol 10 available
  • Coverage available for scheduled owned andHired/Non-Owned Auto while traveling outside the city or state
  • Fleets primarily consisting of light andmedium-duty trucks
  • Limited heavy and extra-heavy truck exposure maybe considered based on overall fleet composition and utilization

Eligible Operations

  • Administrative and service autos, including private passenger, light-duty and medium-duty vehicles
  • Scheduled owned autos
  • Hired and Non-Owned Auto
  • Municipal travel outside the city or state
  • Local operating radius, with some intermediate radius exposure considered

Ineligible Operations or Characteristics

  • Less than one year of operating experience
  • Large independent contractor or volunteer exposures
  • Risks requiring federal filings or MCS-90 endorsements
  • Hazardous material hauling
  • Residential or commercial waste hauling or recycling operations
  • Transportation of third parties or non-W-2 employees
  • Fire engine or fire truck exposure, unless incidental
  • Police vehicles used for detainment, pursuit or highway patrol
  • Risks procuring coverage through a competitive bidding process

Submission clearance requirements

  • ACORD 125 and ACORD 137 or similar applications showing descriptions of operations, effective dates, coverage and requested symbols
  • Completed RLI Public Administration & Municipalities Supplemental (needed to quote but not required to clear)
  • Vehicle Schedule with garaging city/state, year/make/model, specific use, disclosure of any modifications or permanently attached equipment and stated amount values (in Microsoft Excel format, if possible)
  • Four Years of currently valued hard copy loss runs with details on all losses over $25,000
  • Drivers list with date of birth, date of hire, driver’s license number and licensing state

For out-of-state exposures, please also provide:

  • Historical and estimated out-of-state trips by department, including the nature of the trips
  • Schedule of known out-of-state drivers, if available
  • Description of the vehicles used for travel

Coverage may not be available in all venues and is subject to state filing availability.
